Keep your students reading all summer long with Bookadventure.org. Book Adventure is a FREE reading motivation program for children in grades K-8. Children create their own book lists from over 7,000 recommended titles, take multiple choice quizzes on the books they've read, and earn points and prizes for their literary successes. Book Adventure was created by and is maintained by Sylvan Learning.
The Library Media Center (LMC) staff develops programs to help guide students to become discerning consumers of ideas and information. Our primary desire is to foster a love for reading in each student. We focus on developing the recognition that the Bible is the central reference of all truth. In a media-driven culture, it is important to equip our students to make responsible media choices while utilizing the tremendous technology available to them as a tool for research and communication.

The much anticipated DB Library Media Center opened just in time for students to check out books for the summer.

The LMC offers a variety of grade-level appropriate resources and activities. Two of the most popular events are the Sonshine Book Fair (March 21-25, 2011), which offers hundreds of popular Christian book titles and Wacky Wednesday (March 2, 2011), a CCA elementary celebration in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday. As part of the CCA community, students have access to the Grolier online encyclopedia subscription which features daily news, today in history, articles and more. To access the Grolier resources, go to: www.go.grolier.com. The user name and password are available in the LMC.
Students are also encouraged to use the resources available through the multiple Broward Public Libraries as well as the NSU Alvin Sherman Library, Research and Information Technology Center. While you need separate library cards to access the NSU resources, once you have a library card you can access many databases online. Anyone who resides or works in Broward County can obtain access to these college level resources.
Students can also use resources from the Florida Electronic Library. This Florida Public Library site hosts over 50 research databases which vary in interest and age level.
CCA subscribes to QuizList Interactive. Click the link to search the CCA database of AR quizzes, create your own list of books read, print a list of quizzes by level and more! See your child's teacher for his/her reading level and point goals. While the LMC staff supports the AR program, we request that elementary students take their AR quizzes in the classroom not the Library Media Center to ensure privacy and fairness.
