Music education begins in pre-kindergarten with an introduction
to rhythm, tone production, creating music, and singing. As students advance through the elementary grades, instruction includes choral singing; Orff and Kodaly; recorder, as well as band instrumental instruction.
Throughout secondary school, courses include Music Theory AP, Music Endorsement, Concert and Jazz Bands, and Chorus. All music students have the opportunity to audition for All State and All County Bands or Choirs, and can compete at the district and state levels on solos or ensembles. Other audition opportunities are Carnegie Hall Honors Ensembles, summer music camps, and local orchestral groups. Advanced CCA students regularly receive music scholarships beyond high school based on audition and overall participation in our excellent program.
On campus performances include the Fall, Christmas and Spring concerts, musical pit orchestra for annual high school musical, as well as off campus outreach opportunities.
Students in 1st-3rd grade perform in Christmas Outreaches each year with traditional Christmas Carols, fourth grade participates in Easter Outreaches with Easter songs and fourth and fifth grade students perform in a Spring Musical.
“Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy.”
