Ensuring the safety of our littlest Eagles.
We believe that Pre-K students need to be in class with a teacher for optimum learning and development. CCA's Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 classes run five days a week under Scenario 1 with new guidelines from the Department of Children & Families (DCF) and Broward County Child Care Licensing & Enforcement (BCCLE), our local governing authority.
Our goal is to accommodate as many Pre-K students as possible while providing the safest environment under such circumstances. Chapels are scheduled to take place in the sanctuary with social distancing, lunch will take place in and will be delivered to each classroom, and Specials teachers will travel to classrooms using social distancing instead of students traveling to theirs.

DAILY PROCEDURES
Our Pre-K students and staff will be screened each morning upon arrival and throughout the day at intervals. Our classroom capacity will be limited to 10 persons to a room, so space may be limited for a period of time. Each group of 10 will stay together, use assigned bathrooms, and will not mix with other classes, staff, or elementary children during the school day. Aftercare will be managed with the same procedures of stable groups of 10. Toys and learning activities will not be shared between classrooms or aftercare classes.
ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL
Pre-K parents will need to have their gate access badge and a face covering on in order to enter the campus. In the mornings for arrival, we will be receiving children in the east corridor, through the glass doors right inside the east gate by the playgrounds. All children will be screened before being taken back to their rooms by a teacher assistant.
Parents will not enter the passpointed areas until further notice to avoid unnecessary exposure. Pre-K dismissal will be as normal in the west side carline, however, pre-K students will stay in their stable groups of 10 on the north end of carline, separated from the kindergarten classes.

CAMPUS ENTRY
Pre-K parents will need to have their masks on in order to enter the campus. Parents will check in and stay in the Preschool Hallway until after their child’s temperature has been taken and their child is received for the day.
Students with a temperature of 100.4º or higher will not be allowed to enter the building until they are fever-free for 24 hours (without the aid of fever-reducing medications).
FACIAL COVERINGS
BCCLE does not recommend the use of face coverings for children under the age of five, for safety reasons. As per the BCCLE mandate, our teachers and teacher assistants will wear face coverings when receiving children from parents, during assistance with lunches and snacks, while disinfecting and sanitizing the rooms when children are at recess, and when toileting the children. All other times, it is important for young children to see smiling faces for those positive interactions with their teachers and teacher assistants.
PLAYGROUND TIME
Only one group of 10 persons at a time will be allowed on the playground. Our school's facilities team will spray the playgrounds with disinfectant each morning before play. All TAs will sanitize the handles, rails, and frequently touched surfaces before their students enter the playground for their daily recess. If using the courtyard turf, the stable groups of 10 will be separated into the four quadrants so as not to mix with any other classes that might be outside at the same time.
CLEANING PROCEDURES
Our teachers and TAs have always disinfected and sanitized toys and surfaces during the day while children are out of the room, and we will continue to do so more often throughout the day at regular intervals. Antiviral cleaning products are used to wipe down doorknobs, handles, tables and chairs, bathroom fixtures, toilet seats, and all surfaces touched during the day.
Hand sanitizer stations will continue to be readily available in the hallways and lobbies. Our facilities team will also be cleaning at several intervals throughout the day while the children are outside to ensure that our classroom spaces and offices are disinfected and sanitized on a regular basis.

REVISED ILLNESS POLICY
Students will be screened at arrival and at two regular intervals throughout the day. Students must be fever-free in order to be received each day. A student who develops a fever of 100.4º or higher during the day will be brought to the isolation room with a TA, and parents will be notified to pick up their child immediately — for the child’s safety and the safety of all children in the classroom.
We are encouraging parents to add trusted individuals to their contact list during this season in the event they are unable to pick up their child within the necessary one-hour time limit. Students will be allowed to return to school when they have been fever-free (without the use of fever-reducing medication) for a period of 24 hours.

MOBILE LEARNING IN PRE-K
For Pre-K parents who feel more comfortable having their child learn from home, CCA is purchasing high-definition cameras and TV monitors for every classroom that will allow Pre-K students to participate virtually in classroom instruction and activities from home in real-time. Recordings of these class sessions will be available as well.
We will be sending out a form in which Pre-K parents can select whether they’d like their child to begin the school year on campus five days a week or from home through our mobile learning program. Classroom space may be limited for a period of time, so for those who do choose to stay home for full-time mobile learning, a return to the classroom will be subject to space availability.
