Varying Exceptionalities (VE) Plan

We believe that elementary and secondary VE students need to be in class with a teacher for optimum learning and recognize that most of our parents require a full day of child care based on the feedback we received.

CCA’s plan is to accommodate all VE students on campus five days a week under Scenario 1 while providing the safest environment under such circumstances. Chapels are scheduled to take place in the sanctuary with social distancing, lunch will take place in and will be delivered to each classroom, and elementary Specials teachers will travel to classrooms instead of students traveling to theirs.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. —Lamentations 3:22-23

DAILY PROCEDURES

Our VE students and staff will be temperature screened each morning upon arrival. Our classroom capacity will be limited to 12 persons to a room, inclusive of teachers and TAs, so space will be limited for a period of time. Each classroom of 12 will stay together and will not mix with other classrooms, staff, or children during the school day.

FACIAL COVERINGS

Our teachers and teacher assistants will wear face coverings when receiving children from parents, during assistance with lunches and snacks, while disinfecting and sanitizing the rooms when children are at recess, and assisting the children in the bathroom. All other times, it is important for our VE students to see the smiling faces for those positive interactions with their teachers and teacher assistants. VE students should wear a cloth face covering or face shield, if possible, when they are not in the classroom (hallways and other locations).

CAMPUS ENTRY

VE parents will be required to wear a face covering in order to enter the campus. If needed, parents will check in and stay in the reception area until after the children are screened and received for the day. Students with a temperature of 100.4º or higher will not be allowed to enter the pass pointed areas of the building until they are fever-free for 24 hours (without the aid of fever-reducing medications).

RECESS (ELEMENTARY ONLY)

Only one class of 12 persons at a time will be allowed on the playground. Our school’s facilities team will spray the playgrounds with disinfectant each morning before play. All TAs will sanitize the handles, rails, and frequently touched surfaces before their students enter the playground for their daily recess.

If using the courtyard turf, the stable groups of 12 will be separated into the four quadrants so as not to mix with any other classes that might be outside at the same time.

ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL

We will be receiving children in the carline. All children will be screened by a teacher assistant before being escorted from their vehicle. Parents will not enter the passpointed areas until further notice to avoid unnecessary exposure. We are working on a staggered dismissal plan; more information will be coming as we finalize that plan.

ILLNESS POLICY

Students will be temperature screened upon arrival to school. Students must be fever-free in order to be received each day. A student who develops a fever of 100.4° F or higher during the day will be brought to the isolation room with a TA, and parents will be notified to pick up immediately — for your child’s safety and the safety of all children in the classroom. It might be wise to add persons to your contact list during this season in the event you are unable to pick up your child within the necessary one-hour time limit.

Students will be allowed to return to school when they have been fever-free (without the use of fever-reducing medication) for a period of 24 hours.

CLEANING PROCEDURES

Our teachers and TAs will disinfect and sanitize classroom materials and surfaces in the classroom throughout the day. Antiviral cleaning products are used to wipe down doorknobs, handles, tables and chairs, bathroom fixtures, toilet seats, and all surfaces touched during the day.

Hand sanitizer stations will continue to be readily available in the hallways and lobbies.

Our primary goal moving forward.

We will continue to monitor government and health guidelines and mandates for the remainder of the school year and communicate any changes with you. Our primary goal is for you to send your child to school with confidence knowing that they are happy and safe while being provided an excellent, enriching, and developmentally appropriate educational experience.

We look forward to continuing to serve your family in 2021-22!
