Here are 3 things you should know about this new opportunity at CCA:

  1. Dual Immersion students receive all academic content in Spanish excluding specials.
  2. For the 2017–18 school year, this program is being offered in the same tuition rate as our traditional PreK–4 through 1st grade classrooms.
  3. Our CCA Dual Immersion classes will follow the same mission as our traditional classrooms: to make disciples spiritually, academically and socially. This will be accomplished through the same excellent academic standards, field trips, and outreach opportunities that take place in all classes, but through the Spanish language.

If you were not able to join us for the informational meeting, watch the video below to see the complete presentation. We would be happy to answer any follow-up questions you may have as well.

What is the Dual Language Immersion Program?

As our world becomes more interconnected, our ability to communicate in different languages and across cultures becomes more important. Equipping the next generation for success means providing an education that promotes high academic achievement in English as well as in an additional language. With this goal in mind, CCA will be implementing a Dual Language Immersion Program in the elementary school for the 2017–18 school year.

CCA is partnering with add.a.lingua, an organization that develops cutting edge instructional materials, teacher and administrator training, program guidelines, and community engagement specific to dual language immersion education. Participation in the Dual Language Immersion Programwill be open to students in Pre-K4 through First grade in the 2017–2018 school year. An additional grade level will be added to the program in each consecutive year to allow all participants to advance within the program. In Pre-K4 through 2nd grade, students will receive 100% of their academic instruction in Spanish. Specials classes such as STEM, art, music, PE, computers, and drama will continue to be taught in English. Starting in 3rd grade, students will be taught one or more of their academic subjects in English to increase exposure to critical terminology and strategies in both languages.

Calvary Christian Academy believes that students deserve the opportunity to benefit from quality dual immersion opportunities that ensure high proficiency in more than one language at no cost to English language performance. The Dual Language Immersion Program will equip our students to use their gifts and talents to serve a global community.
