Outreach to Aid Venezuela Grows Beyond CCA Community

Naomi Peyton, International Student Director, was featured on Moody Radio to discuss how people all over South Florida can get involved in SOS Venezuela. We're excited to see how God provides for this mission to help save lives!

We were proud to hear CCA’s International Student Program Director, Naomi Peyton, live on Moody Radio South Florida, early morning on Friday, October 26, to discuss SOS Venezuela, our school community’s effort to help families suffering due to the undeclared humanitarian crisis.

The initiative was first inspired by Abraham Herrera, an international student from Venezuela who studied at Calvary Christian Academy for a gap semester. During his entrance interview he shared about the economic crisis that is causing chaos in his country, and the dangers that forced his family to leave. Hyperinflation has led to a major decline in imported goods. Namely, food. “Supermarkets can’t afford to import or stock most goods as a result. Even basic food items are astronomically priced. People all over the country cannot afford basic necessities for survival,” said Peyton.

When asked by Moody Radio hosts Eric & Audrey about what people can do to help, Peyton invited the local South Florida community to get involved in SOS Venezuela. “What’s happened is that we’ve been able to get connected with 19 pastors and a pediatrician in Venezuela… we’re working directly with them and we’re actually collecting necessities. We’re collecting things that will save lives. The people that are hurting the most are the elderly, babies at birth—there’s no formula in the country… God has opened the door for us to be able to ship small boxes with necessities for life.”

Our goal is to send at least 100 boxes during this collection period to our pastors on the ground. You can get involved by contributing items and donating toward shipping costs. 100% of all funds collected will go toward SOS boxes and shipping costs. We can’t fix a country, but together we can save lives.
