Have You Ever Considered Christian Education for Your Kids?

Kevin Enders, father of five, and active foster parent, never really gave Christian education a thought. Having only recently recommitted his life to the Lord, he wasn’t sure if the added cost of a private school, and the longer commute was necessary, or even possible. But, he found out that God has a way of bringing people into our lives at the right time to make significant change.

In October 2006, Kevin joined his brother-in-law at the Calvary Christian Academy Golf Tournament and ran into David Salvatelli (CCA’s Director of Development at the time). “I remember exactly where I was standing—on the ninth tee—when David pulled up in a golf cart and asked me if I’d ever considered putting my kids in Christian school,” Enders said. “I hadn’t. Our kids were in good public schools, but that was the beginning of us becoming a CCA family.”

The transition didn’t happen overnight however, and the journey had its obstacles. Kevin and his wife Michelle, had just become foster parents, so life also felt unpredictable. “Calvary Christian Academy and Calvary Chapel were a big part of our learning about the Lord and trusting Him. We needed a miracle to make this education a reality, and He made a way and we’ve never looked back,” Kevin remembers.

Shortly after considering making the switch, the Enders found a home closer to the school and half the price of where they were living at the time. This answer to prayer allowed all of their children to attend.

The Enders family has been a part of Calvary Christian Academy for 8 years now, and their children are thriving. Kevin, now President of 4KIDS of South Florida, wells up with pride when describing his daughter, a 2017 graduate who finished at the top of her class before attending the University of Florida Honors program.

“The level of technology and STEM education that they’re getting at CCA is top notch—and in some cases ahead of what they’re offering at college level,” Kevin says. “Plus, going into parent teacher meetings where they open in prayer, and hearing how much they love and care for our kids, is overwhelming—to have educators that aren’t only teaching them but deeply caring about them.”
“[it's] overwhelming to have educators that aren’t only teaching them but deeply caring about them.”

Looking back, it felt as though Christian education was impossible for the Enders family, but God had other plans. “Christian education may seem like a sacrifice, but really it’s an investment. You may look at it and think ‘I could never do that,’ but the beauty is that God is waiting to bless you with more than you can imagine. Taking a step of faith can be scary and intimidating, but when it’s close to God’s heart you can’t go wrong.”
