Our Commitment

Going the Distance for our Families.

Wherever the Lord calls us to be, CCA’s faculty and staff members are committed and dedicated to providing you with the best Christian education experience and support system for your family.
“I am so proud of the great work and the heart that Calvary Christian Academy's students, parents, and staff have demonstrated during this unique season of distance learning. It has been an honor to see the way our Eagles rose to the challenge. Because of the Lord's strength and guidance, CCA persevered and walked through this time as a family that desires to do all things in an excellent manner that honors and glorifies the Lord.” —Dr. Rachels
In the event scenario three becomes a reality at any point during the 2020-21 school year, here are six ways CCA’s mobile learning program compares to other virtual learning options:

THE COMFORT OF CONSISTENCY

There’s no doubt that your family has had to adjust to a lot of changes these past few months. As a CCA Eagle, your child(ren) will enter a new school year with the comfort of learning with the same classmates and teachers who value and know them well instead of having to assimilate to a completely new social circle (or lack thereof).

It is worth noting that assimilating to an unfamiliar school structure during an already challenging time can potentially impact a student’s academic performance as well as their social and spiritual well-being. As always, we encourage our families to seek wisdom from the Lord and prayerfully ask for His guidance as you make important decisions for your family. We ultimately want to see you walk confidently on the path He is leading you to!

FACULTY-LED INSTRUCTION

Although parents have had to play a more active role in their child(ren)’s distance learning education, we do not expect our parents to be the “first-responders” and primary instructors. Parents who choose to homeschool are required to take on the primary role of a teacher and help their child(ren) pace their learning.

Our licensed and experienced teachers are ultimately responsible for delivering CCA’s biblically integrated curriculum to ensure that your child continues to excel academically in a structured, engaging, and Christ-centered remote learning environment through live and pre-recorded lessons. CCA faculty are held to the highest standards of excellence and are trained to teach to your child(ren)’s unique learning style to ensure mastery of content. As a college preparatory school, CCA’s curriculum and workload will remain academically rigorous but manageable and sensitive to each family’s situation during these unprecedented times.

SPIRITUAL EMPHASIS

Rain or shine, making disciples will always be our mission — a mission we were able to continue when CCA’s campus initially closed in March 2020. Our dedicated Discipleship Team rose to the occasion to ensure that students still had designated times in their day to join alongside their peers virtually to watch chapel services. Students were able to engage in worship, hear an encouraging and challenging message from different members of the CCA community, and have the opportunity to connect with one another through the live chat feature. This will continue to be the case in 2020-21 in the event there are any weeks in which we are unable to meet in person.

Additionally, students will be able to invest in the same friendships and accountability partners they have grown close to over the years during their virtual small group meetings, which are led by adults involved in the CCA and Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale community. And although we set aside times for our students to be intentional about their spiritual growth, Jesus Christ is infused into every subject from pre-K all the way to 12th grade, even virtually. Helping students develop a Christian worldview and a strong foundation of faith will prepare them to stand firm in the Lord when they matriculate to college and the workforce.

LESS HEADACHES & HURDLES

The Florida Department of Education requires parents who want to make the transition into homeschooling to complete various requirements and ongoing documentation. Various steps are involved that may prove challenging for some parents to juggle with other responsibilities they may have. Additionally, virtual programs offered by the public school system will likely require state testing in mathematics, reading, and science for students in certain grades.

Families considering taking a gap year from CCA who wish to return to school once pandemic concerns subside will need to complete the admissions process as if they are a new family applying to the school.

LAYERS OF SUPPORT & RESOURCES

With over 300 faculty and staff members at CCA, you can count on having a robust support system to serve and guide you every step of this journey. Whether your child needs immediate tech support, extra help for a subject they’re struggling in, or a school counselor/discipleship leader to talk to, we are here for them and will make ourselves readily and easily accessible, because going above and beyond to serve in the name of Jesus is what we’re all about.

We also offer a variety of resources to support our parents, such as a full-time communications team to keep you abreast of everything that’s going on and what you need to know, CCA’s Parent-to-Parent Fellowship group, the CCA Blog and MyCCA resource boards, qualified instructors in our ESE and VE programs who can accommodate a wide spectrum of cognitive needs and accommodations, and access to Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale’s ministries.

SOCIAL GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES

Although academics are integral to a child’s learning experience, we believe that extracurricular involvement, Specials (Spanish, music, drama, STEM, art, PE, etc.), and peer-to-peer interaction are just as crucial when it comes to raising up well-rounded, emotionally intelligent, and cultured leaders. While most virtual school experiences do not hold live, synchronous classes, we ensure they are incorporated into students’ weekly schedules several times a week to not only reinforce the concepts they are learning in their classes, but to also give them the opportunity to foster ongoing camaraderie among their classmates. Support systems and consistencies like these amidst a season of quarantine can help children stay grounded mentally, spiritually, and academically.

In terms of building community in person, our team thought of creative and safe ways for families to connect with each other in Spring 2020, and we’re ready to continue celebrating important milestones and making special memories. Whether that’s through a socially distanced drive-in graduation celebration, or the personal delivery of lawn signs to honor our graduates and award winners, we are always brainstorming ways to make our students feel loved.

We want them to know that they belong to a school community that truly cares about them. All of the social experiences mentioned are designed to enhance and complement CCA’s online academic experience.
