Preparing Students for College and a Career in Dance
Tara Brown and Sandra Henderson, Secondary Dance Instructor
With generous gifts made to the CCA Fund, the Dance Department was able to take eight students to the National High School Dance Festival in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for the first time.
The five day festival, known across the nation for embracing and perpetuating the highest standard of quality in dance education, provided various master classes and performances for our students to attend. In addition, workshops taught by industry leaders, prepared them for the next step in their performing arts journey.
“God is so faithful and has answered our prayers in abundance! We are very proud of the Christ-like manner in which the students represented themselves and CCA.”
They were also provided the opportunity to audition in front of over 70 prestigious college representatives from across the country. Through this audition, our CCA dancers received acceptances from multiple colleges and conservatories (see list below), and were offered hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships for tuition and summer programs.
Congratulations Catherine Blanco, Rachel Blitch, Nadia Laurovic, Jesse McCoy, Brianna Rivas, Jillian Sward, Isabella Thomas, and Amanda Wysocki for all of your hard work, and success!
I am so proud of these amazing students. I am very proud to be apart of CCA. My daughter is in Kindergarten and she loves to dance. Congratulations to the teachers and students for making yourselves and CCA proud. Continue to let your light shinr for Jesus. We love you all??
When you attend a fine arts production in the CCA Theatre, what’s presented on stage is a final product – the culmination of countless hours of planning, auditions, line memorization, rehearsals, set/costume design, and prayer. Audience members haven’t been a part of this process, but that’s about to change . . .
High school dancers and their parents don’t have to choose between professional dance instruction and a Christian education. They can have both. Discover how CCA’s Dance Endorsement program makes this possible for high school students and which renowned college dance programs and summer intensives they’re being accepted into.
Participating in the Fine Arts may look different for students this school year, but the show must go on! With new, innovative safeguards in place, Calvary Christian Academy’s Middle School Theatre students have been hard at work preparing a live musical for you and your family to enjoy. Mark your calendars for February 5-6 — Godspell JR is coming to CCA to share Jesus’ message of redemption, compassion, and love!
World Theatre Day and World Autism Awareness Day are only days apart from each other, and perhaps this isn’t a coincidence. We invite you to read the journey of how God used theatre in a powerful way in the life of a CCA middle school student diagnosed with autism.
