Hannah Alvarado Wins Honorable Mention at Silver Knight Gala
Melodie Womble
Congratulations to Hannah Alvarado, who was recognized last night at the 60th Annual Silver Knight Awards presentation in the category of Science for her scholarship, and many talents in establishing and heading Calvary Christian Academy’s student science club.
Hannah is in good company—the founder of Amazon, the composer who wrote the score to Rocky, the first female U.S. ambassador in the Middle East, and the former Surgeon General of the United States have all received this accolade given to outstanding high school seniors in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
More than 730 nominees from Miami-Dade and Broward County attended. A panel of judges selects one Silver Knight and three Honorable Mentions in each of the 15 category: Art, Athletics, Business, Drama, English & Literature, General Scholarship, Journalism, Mathematics, Music and Dance, New Media, Science, Social Science, Speech, Vocational-Technical and World Languages. Winners were not revealed until the night of the ceremony.
A special thank you to her teachers, those who nominated her, served on her “mock” interview committee, and those who prayed for her. Your investment is producing great fruit in the lives of our students, like Hannah.
