All-Star Thespians Bring Home Best In Category and More!

CCA’s High School and Middle School Thespian Troupes competed in various theatre events at the Florida District Competitions. As the weekends unfolded, they represented Christ and their school so well!

High School

Intense preparation paid off for Troupe 6817. Troupe President and CCA Senior, Zoey Boyette, discussed how the experience sharpened her skills and her mental tenacity: "Preparing for districts can be hard. You want to make sure you have your piece perfect, and, as an actors or actresses, we always believe we can do better. With all of my pieces, I was struggling and pushing myself to make them better, but there were certain times when I wanted to drop one to make myself not as stressed, but I didn't. I pushed through. What it stretched me to do as an actress is to push myself to my full extent and NOT give up. The piece that I was uncertain about ended up being my best piece of the day, receiving Critics' Choice and runner-up for State select."

At the One Act competition the troupe received an Excellent rating for their performance of "Appropriate Audience Behavior" performed by the Theatre Endorsement class. Carolina Torres-Tello took home the All-star Cast Member Award, and Luke Di Liddo won Best Supporting Actor out of the 13 shows that competed!

All students who competed against the 16 other schools in various events from monologues, to musical performances, to technical designs received at least one Superior or Excellent rating from the judges. Out of 32 performances we received 14 Superior and 16 Excellent ratings!

Middle School

CCA's Jr. Thespians presented 27 events at the Jr. Thespian Distritct Festival and had an amazing time! Overall, the troupe earned 15 Superiors, 12 Excellents, and 1 Good. For our One-Act play entry “The Internet is Distract-OH LOOK, A KITTEN!,” Dane’ Venter earned the All-Star Cast Award from the judges for her roles in the play.

The one-act play was performed by members of the Page-to-Stage Theatre Production class where they learn everything that goes into putting on a production—from casting to tech/design work to publicity and more.

We're very proud of the hard work these secondary students put into their events and the manner in which they represented the CCA Fine Arts Program. Their dedication, humility, and servant-heartedness, sets them apart as leaders for Christ. Well done to all!
