Calvary Christian Academy expands their offerings of Christian education by adding a new campus in Hollywood, Florida.
Providing exceptional, yet affordable Christian education is a calling. CCA’s Early Childhood Director, Jan Lashbrook, shared in a recent
article, “The Christian educator teaches not merely to inform the mind, but to renew the mind, giving students a higher perspective on life.” In honor of that calling, we’re excited to announce a new opportunity to expand Calvary Christian Academy’s mission of making disciples through a partnership with Hollywood Community Church.
The church’s campus in Hollywood, Florida has provided excellent Christian education for 58 years through the ministry of Hollywood Christian School (HCS). But as it became more and more difficult for the school to be good financial stewards, local pastors encouraged the leadership team to explore options that would allow Christian education to continue on the campus said Lead Pastor, Brian Burkholder, in an interview for
The Good News.
“We realized we were stronger together. Little did we know that God was creating the environment for an uncommon partnership."
Through this new partnership we’re excited to share that Christian education will continue on the grounds — in July, 2019, the location will become a campus of Calvary Christian Academy.
The seeds for this opportunity were first planted when Burkholder and Pastor Doug Sauder, Lead Pastor of Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale, connected through
Church United — a community of local pastors working together to more effectively accomplish the collective mission of making disciples of Jesus. “We realized we were stronger together. Little did we know that God was creating the environment for an uncommon partnership,” shared
Sauder.
“We believe in the vision of excellent Christian education and know that our efforts to make disciples are made better by working together."
Dr. Mike Hill, the headmaster of Hollywood Christian School, and Dr. Jason Rachels, also got to know each other better through
Schools United — a group that brings together local Christian school leaders. “We believe in the vision of excellent Christian education and know that our efforts to make disciples are made better by working together,” said Rachels regarding the new campus.
Enrollment at CCA Hollywood is open for the 2019–2020 school year. Aspects of the school will change and improve over time, but both administrative teams are confident that the attentive care and excellent Christian education that has been provided by staff and faculty at HCS for almost 60 years will continue, and grow stronger, as children are being developed spiritually, academically, and socially.
