Alumni, pastors, faculty, community leaders, and future students and families gathered on Saturday, July 20 to celebrate a historic day for Calvary Christian Academy — the grand opening of a new campus in Hollywood, Florida.
Calvary Christian Academy Hollywood is a private Christian school that has taken over the building space that formerly hosted Hollywood Christian School.
Hollywood Christian School alumni, Kaylen Clark, came to honor her alma mater’s impact on her life and her community. “Hollywood Christian School, we salute your 59 year legacy in discipling and training students to pursue their calling with excellence and to serve others selflessly,” she shared from the stage just before the ribbon cutting ceremony. “The labor that has gone into establishing your legacy has now been enriched by Calvary Christian [Academy]...The best is yet to come.”
The labor that has gone into establishing [Hollywood Christian School's] legacy has now been enriched by Calvary Christian [Academy].
Calvary Christian Academy has been serving families with children in Pre-K3 through 12th grade in Fort Lauderdale since 2000. For the very first time efforts to fulfill their mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ through a biblical school environment that prepares students to glorify God spiritually, academically, and socially will expand to an additional campus in South Florida.
“It really comes down to this: the best possible thing for kids in Hollywood is for them to know the Lord, to know how awesome [He] is, how much He loves them and cares for them," shared Head of School, Dr. Jason Rachels. "From a very young age they can grow and learn what took some of us a lot longer to learn, so they can have a joyful life not just in the life to come but in the here and now.”
"Preschool is introducing even more age appropriate STEM activities."
For the past few years, tremendous strides have been made to further develop a world–class, kingdom–centered education on this campus, and CCA plans to continue to build on the momentum. While some of the experiences families have valued at Hollywood Christian School for so many years will remain the same, much will be improved and elevated.
The Pre-K2 through 12th grade private school has already made improvements to campus security and facilities — new swing sets, new fencing, fresh paint, and landscaping, a full time school resource officer, and more have been added this summer. “Preschool is introducing even more age appropriate STEM activities such as gardening, water centers, and activities to apply the principles of science and mathematics at an early age,” said
Lower School Principal, Tarsis Martinez.
Additionally, there will be a greater focus on biblical integration and
Christian worldview training within academic and elective courses offered at CCA Hollywood. “Our goal is to collaborate with [parents]in equipping [their] child(ren) to have a realistic and applicable Christian worldview. I am truly excited to see what God chooses to do in and through us,” stated
Secondary Principal and Director of Discipleship, Joshua Neal. Leadership is working to discover new ways to emphasize how a relationship with Jesus changes everything and how that can be practically taught and experienced.
There is so much families have to look forward to as they begin a new season at Calvary Christian Academy Hollywood.
