For Teacher Appreciation Week 2022, we asked the Calvary Christian Academy community on social media to share the one word that comes to mind when they think of CCA’s faculty and staff. Here are just some of the adjectives they shared:

  • Loving
  • Christ-Like
  • Intentional
  • Hardworking
  • Kind
  • Upright
  • Wonderful
  • Resilient
  • Generous
  • Dedicated
These teacher-ministers are all these words and more!
What exactly does it mean to be a teacher-minister? It’s a role that every employee at Calvary Christian Academy is expected to uphold, whether they are teaching in the classroom or serving families in an administrative capacity. They all serve Christ’s ambassadors, making the most of every opportunity (Ephesians 5:16) to be salt and light to current and prospective families.

A teacher-minister at CCA leads and cares for students from a biblical worldview, delivering excellence with a ministerial heart,” said Evelyn Najarro, CCA’s Human Resources Director. “They know that their role and influence goes beyond academics; it carries into what’s most important – a student’s spiritual growth.”

Outside of the classroom, every faculty and staff member can get involved in discipleship programming as they feel led. Many go above and beyond by leading Upper School small groups that meet weekly, mission trips and spiritual retreats, chapels, clubs, sports teams, and other after school activities. Anyone with a desire to use the full breadth of gifts God has blessed them with is encouraged to do so!

Faculty and staff also get the chance to “spoil” CCA’s graduating seniors by signing up to be their Senior Prayer Partner throughout the school year – anonymously surprising them with gifts and treats and committing to pray for them until the grand reveal in May.

These opportunities for greater connection help students view staff not just as authority figures, but as relatable and respectable spiritual mentors who can help them navigate life’s challenges in partnership with their parents.

Above all, CCA’s faculty and staff want to BUILD upon the Christian values parents are instilling in the home. It takes a village to raise a child, especially if your desire is for your child to know and honor the Lord. These godly men and women are passionate about standing in parents’ corner as advocates, guides, and cheerleaders. They are truly making disciples, together.

You can join CCA’s faculty and staff on this eternally meaningful mission! To view available job openings at CCA (a certified Best Christian Workplace by the Best Christian Workplaces Institute) visit CCAEagles.org/Jobs.
