UPDATE: National Merit Scholarship Finalists

Will Ortiz
About 1.6 million juniors entered the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2016 PSAT and from that number less than 1% of US high school seniors qualified as a semifinalist. From these approximately 16,000 Semifinalists, about 15,000 are expected to advance to the finalist level and be designated as a National Merit Scholar. Merit Scholar designees are selected on the basis of their skills, accomplishments, and potential for success in rigorous college studies.

This year, CCA is proud to announce two seniors who earned the Finalists status and now are eligible to compete to become a National Merit Scholar. These seniors are Jackson Foster and Matthew Ray. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be offered in spring. About 90% of the Semifinalist attain Finalist standing, and about half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.

Join us in congratulating and praying for Jackson Foster and Matthew Ray.
