This is the foundational math course for high school students. Upon successfully completing this course, students will be prepared for entry into Geometry and Algebra II.
This fast-paced course introduces students to logic and proof in order to aid in solving theoretical and real world problems. Students who complete this course will be prepared for an accelerated math program.
Students will develop an understanding and skills in recognizing number patterns. They are expected to master all operations with decimals and fractions, percent and graphing will be treated.
Students will develop skills using the tools of algebra; order of operations; solving equations, mastery over operations with negative numbers, decimals and fractions; rational numbers, solving two-step equations, ratios, proportions, and inequalities.
Students will have mastery over basic facts of arithmetic and unit conversions, all operations involving fractions and decimals, with a good understanding of exponent. Also order of operations, evaluation of expressions, place value and signed numbers.
