Students and Volunteers Send Off Life-Saving Provision to Venezuela

In just one month, students, parents, and church members rallied to provide supplies for families suffering in Venezuela, and exceeded our goal. But this is just the beginning!

It’s amazing what a community can accomplish when we act with compassion! Over 50 volunteers gathered early morning Saturday, November 3, in the Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale parking lot to carefully pack food, baby supplies, and hygiene products to be shipped to pastors in Venezuela. The humanitarian outreach SOS Venezuela has been spearheaded by International Program Director, Naomi Peyton. “We’re very excited about what God is going to do with this life-saving provision,” said Naomi.

Nineteen pastors and one pediatrician will be receiving the boxes and distributing the much needed supplies to suffering families in their local communities. As they feed the hungry, they’ll be sharing the love of Jesus. Students from CCA’s Spanish Honor Society also included in each box a letter written in Spanish with encouragement and the assurance that they are praying the recipients.
"We’re very excited about what God is going to do with this life-saving provision."
When SOS Venezuela launched early October, the goal was to have enough supplies and funds to ship 100 boxes. Through the support of local churches, Moody Radio, and the Calvary Christian Academy Community, we were able to send 129 boxes. “Each pastor texted us through WhatsApp with words of gratitude. They are all so thankful for God’s people,” said Naomi.

We’re believing that these provisions will provide hope for families, but SOS Venezuela isn’t over yet. The CCA Business Club is selling coupon books that will help fund shipping cost and collections for food and supplies will begin again in February. The community has raised over $7,000 in funds for shipping, packing materials, and supplies that will be put toward future collections. In the meantime, continue to pray that the people who receive these boxes will be encouraged with the love of Jesus. Thank you to everyone who pitched in to make this happen. You are saving lives, one family at a time.
