The CCA Robotics Team celebrates successes on the road attempting to qualify for the VEX World Championship.

The VEX Robotics season occurs all year-long with next year’s challenge introduced at the end of the World Championship Tournament in April. Students put to use their knowledge in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics as they design, build, program and drive robots that are capable of moving, stacking, flipping, climbing, and even launching objects.

CCA’s Robotics teams are called the “Cyber Eagles,” which include Elementary, Middle School, and High School teams. All of the students work hard day in and day out to compete with excellence and sportsmanlike attitudes. The Cyber Eagles Robotics Team 77788 is broken into five sub-teams with students ranging from 8th–12th grade. Collectively, the Team has earned 20 awards during this year’s qualification season. As a result of their outstanding effort, all five sub-teams qualified to compete in The South Florida VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) High School State Championship in Miami in March and the CREATE U.S. Open Robotics Championship in Council Bluffs, Iowa in April. The Team had three great performances to end the 2018-19 VEX Robotics Qualification Season. Here are a few of their recent successes to celebrate:

Rumble on the Ridge

On Saturday, February 2nd our middle school Team H and two of our high school Teams J and Y traveled to Clermont, FL to compete in the Rumble on the Ridge. After 65 qualification matches, Team H and Y finished on top to win the competition earning the Tournament Champions Award. In addition, Team H earned the prestigious Excellence Award for the Middle School division, which requires submitting their Engineering Notebook and performing their Robot Skills.

Signature Event: University of South Florida – A World Qualifier

On Monday, February 4th, our high school teams G, J, and Y traveled to Tampa, FL to compete in the Signature Event: University of South Florida – A World Qualifier. Teams from across the country travel to participate in this event to earn the opportunity to compete at the 2019 VEX Robotics World Championship in Louisville, Kentucky in April. The Cyber Eagles Teams J and Y had another great performance only to lose in the semifinals match to the 25th world ranking team from California.

In addition Team Y was voted on and received the Sportsmanship Award, thus fulfilling the Cyber Eagles’ mission to influence the world around them by pursuing excellence, demonstrating Christ-like character in all their interactions, and being distinctly different by placing their desire to glorify the Lord at the front of all that they do.

Best in Southwest VRC FL Qualifier

On Saturday, February 9th, Team C traveled to Naples, FL to compete in the Best in Southwest VRC FL Qualifier. After 39 qualification matches, Team C was undefeated and finished on top to win the competition earning the Tournament Champions Award. CCA’s Cyber Eagles Robotics Teams were recognized in the local newspaper, the Naples Daily News.

We’re very proud of the progress these students have made! CCA's Cyber Eagles continue to work to establish good relationships and a good reputation with all teams. Their sportsmanship reflects their Christ-like attitudes and is building bridges with students from all over the country. Way to go, Cyber Eagles Robotics Team 77788!
