Prior to the break, our early childhood program connected with Tiffanie Holm, principal of Innovation Charter School (ICS), to see if we could provide Christmas for a family in need. She shared with us that one of their families was in crisis. A grandma, who was battling cancer herself, suddenly found herself the sole provider and caregiver for her three grandchildren after her daughter became paralyzed in the upper body during childbirth.
We put the word out to our early childhood families and they came through in a big way! So much love in the form of gifts and gift cards came pouring in, that we were not only able to bless that family in crisis, but were also able to provide gift cards for groceries and toys for four more families who otherwise would not have had a Christmas!
___ At the same time, our early childhood community sent in over 500 books for the ICS library, as well as an abundance of school supplies for their students. We have formed a partnership with the school that continues on into this year, and we look forward to more blessings as we carry out the vision of #LoveSouthFlorida.
Jesus’ words in Acts 20:35, “It is more blessed to give than to receive,” came alive for our early childhood community this Christmas.
