The Complete College Application Timeline

Need help managing your college to-do list? Look no further!

We could all use a little help staying organized, especially when it comes to applying for colleges. Whether you're a Junior or Senior, here is the complete list of what you need to do and when to do it to stay on track. With each box you check, you’re one step closer to your dream school!

Junior Year:

Summer before 11th Grade
Prep for PSAT.
Make a list of colleges and universities you may consider attending.
Work on your community service hours.
 
Fall Semester of 11th Grade
Take the PSAT in October.
Engage in SAT and ACT preparation.
Keep up your grades.
Attend Fall CCA College Night.
 
11th Grade Throughout the Year
Complete your Naviance Tasks.
Visit college campuses.
Register and take two SATs and two ACTs.
Athletes—register with the NCAA and NAIA.
Musicians, thespians, or visual artists—contact prospective college admission offices regarding portfolio/audition requirements.
 
Spring Semester of 11th Grade
Take SAT and ACT exams.
Choose your senior year courses wisely.
Study for AP exams.
Attend the Rising Senior Information Session in April.
Take AP exams (May).
Request teachers to provide recommendation letter.
 

Senior Year:

Summer before 12th Grade
Narrow down your college choices and begin college applications and essays.
Schedule campus visits if you have not done so already.
 
Fall Semester of 12th Grade
Complete your Naviance tasks.
Visit college campuses.
Re–take SAT and/or ACT and submit to prospective colleges.
Attend Fall CCA College Night.
Attend Common App Workshop.
Attend FAFSA Workshop.
Complete CCA Transcript Request Forms.
Complete CCA Recommendation Request Forms.
Complete CCA Recommendation Request Forms.
Submit college applications.
Complete your FFAA account for the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship at FloridaStudentFinancialAid.org beginning October 1.
Complete your FAFSA account at FAFSA.ed.gov; opens October 1.
 
Spring Semester of 12th Grade
Submit final service hours form to school counselor by March 31.
Submit a copy of all college acceptances to your school counselor.
Notify the colleges where you were accepted that you are either accepting or declining their offer by May 1.
Notify your school counselor where you are attending and complete a final transcript form.
Request transcripts for any Dual Enrollment courses.
 
After Graduation
Submit Advanced Placement scores to your college.
