25 Prayers for 25 Years | Day 25 | Keeping the Flame Alive
By: Dr. Jason Rachels
In today’s devotional, CCA President Dr. Jason Rachels concludes our 25 Prayers for 25 Years series by encouraging us to live a prayerful life.
Scripture:
"Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality."
–Romans 12:9-13
Reflection:
As we wrap up this 25-day journey of prayer, it’s important to remember that prayer is not the end of the work – it is the beginning. Prayer awakens us, shapes us, and spurs us into action.
The Apostle Paul reminds us in Romans 12 that a transformed life is marked by sincere love, a hatred of evil, and a clinging to what is good. As a community, we’ve drawn near to God in praise, thanksgiving, confession, petition, and reflection. Now, we are sent out to live lives that reflect those prayers.
This is our calling as the CCA community – not to simply be a school that prays, but to become people transformed by prayer. A.W. Tozer wrote, “The true Christian ideal is not to be happy but to be holy.”
These days of prayer have not just been about reflection, but about redirection – turning our hearts more fully toward Christ and His mission. What we do from here on matters. Prayer is what fuels the service, the kindness, and the everyday moments where the love of Christ is made visible across our community.
As we head into summer, let’s not drift from the posture we’ve practiced over these 25 days. Let’s continue to bejoyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Let us not grow weary in doing good but press on in love, with our eyes on Jesus.
And in the words of Dallas Willard: “The most important thing in your life is not what you do; it’s who you become.” May we become a people who love deeply, serve faithfully, and pray unceasingly.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for these 25 days. Thank You for the moments of stillness, surrender, and spiritual renewal. As we conclude this school year and look forward to what’s next, help us to live lives that reflect what we’ve prayed – lives full of love, hope, and faithful service.
Guard our hearts this summer, grow our students and staff in grace, and prepare our community for all You have ahead. May the seeds of revival planted in these days take root and bear fruit for generations to come. In Jesus’ name, amen.
