25 Prayers for 25 Years | Day 21 | Prayer for Growth and Impact
By: Kris Hughes
In today’s devotional, CCA North Miami’s Principal, Kris Hughes, continues our 25 Prayers for 25 Years series by encouraging us to be mindful of where our treasure is and to pray for the continued growth of the Kingdom of God.
Scripture:
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
–Matthew 6:19-21
Reflection:
These verses remind us that the faithful work and ministry happening on every CCA campus are building treasures in heaven that will last forever.
Across all of our campuses – from the youngest children in preschool all the way up to the emerging adults in high school – our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ continues through new generations. We work to prepare them to glorify God in all areas, and this dedication is based upon the hope of eternity.
CCA’s mission is to point our students to Christ – spiritually, academically, and socially – so that their ultimate focus in life is not worldly possessions, but rather, heavenly, eternal treasures.
When worldly possessions are the focus, the heart will be drawn to the world. When heavenly treasures – the things that matter for eternity – are the focus, the heart will be drawn to glorify God.
Let us pray that God will continue to yield growth as we are faithful to plant and water the seeds in the hearts of these children. Let us ask for CCA to continue to have an impact for the Kingdom of God – for His glory, not our own.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the hope of heaven – eternity with You. We praise You for the gift of Your Word that guides and directs our paths as we walk through this temporal life.
Help us be faithful to plant and water the seeds in the hearts of the CCA community. We will be careful to give You the glory for the growth and fruit that You generously provide.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
Kris Hughes has been a part of CCA since 2009, and she currently serves as the Principal at the North Miami campus. Kris and her husband, Brian, are enjoying an empty nest life, as they have launched their two children – who are CCA Alumni – into the world. Kris’s favorite Bible verse(s) are 1 Corinthians 3:5-9.
