On Friday, August 14, the Florida High School Athletics Association voted 11-5 to set the first official practice dates for all fall sports as Monday, August 24 with the option for schools and districts to begin later if needed. Broward County currently sits under an emergency order that requires masks at all times and that social distancing be maintained.
CCA will begin fall sports on Monday, August 24 for the following high school sports:
Cheerleading
Cross Country
Football
Golf
Volleyball
Athletic facilities have been deep-cleaned and are sanitized daily, as is all shared equipment. Additionally, weight lifting equipment in the Athletic Performance Center is sanitized with an electrostatic sprayer between each session.
Register your child at CCAEagles.org/Clearance and submit all the required documentation. This process does require a medical examination dated after May 1, 2020.
What about middle school sports?
We are currently speaking with opponents regarding their plans. We anticipate rolling out middle school opportunities in the month of September.
I have more questions, what do I do?
Email CCA’s Athletics Director, Keith Huisman at keithh@ccaeagles.org. With this very recent decision, we will release full plans shortly.
I am concerned about COVID. What do we do?
At CCA, we are working very hard to protect our community. We recognize that each family is unique and their circumstances may mean they have to step away from sports for a time. We completely respect that decision and will support you 100%.
