On Friday, May 4, Danny Ferro, outran all of his competition at the FHSAA Track & Field State Championships in Jacksonville, Florida. Ferro defended his state title in the 800 at the 2A level, but also notched the fastest time for all four classifications.
The senior has been the leader of the CCA distance runners for several years. In the fall, he placed fourth in the Cross Country State Finals. He is also competing in the 4x800 meter relay and the 1600. Year after year, the long-time Eagle has found a way to improve. In his final competition as a CCA Eagle, Danny stayed true to form.
Several members of the Eagles track team qualified for the state finals this week. In addition to the boys 4x800 relay team, the girls 4x400 relay team also qualified for the state finals. Daniel Jones is competing in the 110 hurdles, Justin Lawson in the discus, and Kennedy Sauder qualified as a freshman for both the high jump and triple jump.
