On Saturday, the state qualifiers from our Eagles Swim & Dive Team competed in the Class 1A State Championships, the fastest meet in the state. Our boys 200 free relay made up of Uriah Campbell, Andre Porras-Aguilar, Giancarlo Porras-Aguilar, and Christian King, swam their best time and finished 19th. Our girls 200 free relay comprised of Dylan Kanell, Christina Paschal, Summer Poling, and Marley Tyner, cut time both in the prelim competition and in the final medal heat to earn a spot on the medal podium, finishing 7th. Both Christina Paschal and Marley Tyner also competed in the 50 freestyle. Our girls team ended up placing 21st overall out of 42 other schools who qualified. Way to go, Eagles!!!
Last Friday, October 27 our CCA Eagle swimmers competed in the Regional Championships. Our girls team placed 9th overall our of 20 other teams who qualified, and our boys team placed 11th overall out of 22 teams. Both our girls and boys 200 free relays qualified to compete in the State Championships this Saturday in Ocala. Dylan Kanell, Summer Poling, Christina Paschal, Sarah Porras-Aguilar, Marley Tyner, Uriah Campbell, Christian King, Nico Lugo, Andre Porras-Aguilar, and Giancarlo Porras-Aguilar will travel to Ocala to represent CCA in the relays. Christina Paschal and Marley Tyner also qualified individually in the 50 yard freestyle event, and will get to go against the best in Florida. Let's go, Eagles!
On Friday, October 20, the CCA Girls Swim & Dive team placed fifth overall out of nine teams and the boys placed sixth out of nine. Six girls and seven boys advanced to regionals in all the relay events and a number of individual events. Big congratulations to Dylan Kanell, Christina Paschal, Summer Poling, Sarah Porras-Aguilar, Kaley Thurston, Marley Tyner, Uriah Campbell, Christian King, Sam Kim, Nico Lugo, Andre Porras-Aguilar, Giancarlo Porras-Aguilar, and Gavin Warner. On Thursday, October 12, the CCA Swim & Dive teams ended their regular season meet schedule against King's Academy. The girls team lost 51-119 and the boys team lost 37-133. Despite a strong King's team, CCA performed well, posting many personal best times.
On Tuesday, October 10, after a competitive meet, the CCA girls team edged out WA, 141-138. The CCA boys team lost to WA with a score of 162 to 141. But the real celebration began after the meet when the CCA Swim & Dive Team celebrated seniors Laurel MacPhee, Luke Jardina, Andre Porras-Aguilar, and Giancarlo Porras-Aguilar. It was a great season, and we will miss our seniors!
Last week our CCA Eagles Swimmers defeated both David Posnack Jewish Day School and Somerset Academy in a double dual meet. The girls team beat Posnack 116 to 20 and Somerset 91 to 54. The boys team also overcame Posnack with a score of 97 to 49 and Somerset with a score of 85 to 61. Most of our swimmers are achieving personal best times at every meet as the season progresses. We look forward to our District Championships next week. Go Eagles!!!!!
After a long season of weather cancellations, the clouds parted on Wednesday afternoon long enough for a make-up quad dual meet held at the NSU Aquatic Center. Calvary competed against four schools. Our CCA Eagles started strong with both our girls and boys 200 medley relays taking first place in exciting style at the beginning of the meet. Many swimmers scored personal best times, and, overall, Calvary defeated three teams (Westminister Academy, David Posnack School, and Somerset Academy), only falling to Nova University Sharks. These victories kick off a week long stretch of meets as we prepare for the District Championship meet in two weeks. Way to go, Eagles!!!
The CCA Eagle Swim & Dive Team performed well at the 59th Annual Woodson Invitational at Pine Crest on Saturday. The meet was attended by Powerhouse schools from across South Florida. CCA girls placed 7th out of 13 teams and the boys placed 8th, for an overall team placement of 8th. Looking for to our state series next month!

Although both the girls and boys teams came up short in total scoring, our girls team had six first place wins, four in individual events and two relays. Marley Tyner set the pace with a win in the 200 Freestyle, followed by victories from Summer Poling in the 200 IM, Dylan Kanell in the 50 Freestyle, Laurel MacPhee in the 1 meter Diving Event, Christina Paschal in the 500 Freestyle, and a win in the 400 Freestyle relay made up of Dylan Kanell, Christina Paschal, Sarah Porras-Aguilar, and Marley Tyner. Way to go, Eagles!
