Partnering with you to provide God's best for your child.

Parents want God’s best for their children, and we share that desire in our Pre-Kindergarten program.

CCA provides a Christ-centered environment where students may develop and flourish as God intends. We recognize that students have varied learning styles, rates of learning, and individual interests and talents.

This is why we're committed to meeting the spiritual, academic, and social needs of our students in learning environments that are challenging, engaging, and inspiring.

Respect and high expectations for all Pre-K students at CCA are necessary to fulfill the will of the Lord Jesus Christ for our students and for the school.

Telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and His strength and His wonderful works that He has done.
—Psalm 78:4

Pre-K Curriculum

List of 6 items.

  • Core Curriculum

Thematic Learning Units with in-house field trips are used in conjunction with the A Beka Book curriculum in our Pre-Kindergarten program.

Beautifully illustrated and imaginatively written, A Beka Book is a comprehensive curriculum that promotes godly character while reinforcing pre-writing, reading and math skills.

Lessons integrate concepts in language and early literacy development as well as math, science, social studies, health and safety, and personal and social development.

Fine and gross motor coordination is reinforced daily through math manipulatives, Art, and engaging instructional activities within the classroom.

Listening and critical thinking skills are increased as students are introduced to short stories and poetry by well-known authors, building a solid foundation for reading comprehension throughout the academic career.

Our math program in Pre-Kindergarten is a mixture of Saxon Math (Pre-K4), Abeka Math (Pre-K3), and an exciting and innovative educational system from Germany called Spielgaben. Students experience hands-on, engaging lessons using a variety of manipulatives to promote rigorous, yet age appropriate learning.

Our Pre-K3 Bible curriculum features age appropriate applications and meaningful stories that reinforce God’s truths in young hearts. Biblical characters from both the Old and New Testaments come alive for students as they hear, see, and act out the Bible stories together.

The Pre-K4 Bible curriculum, Positive Action, is a powerful hands-on program designed to help pre-kindergarten students know God’s Word, believe His promises, and live in faith and obedience. Students are presented with activities and resources that reinforce understanding, retention, and application.

  • Weekly Chapel

Pre–K students attend chapel on Friday mornings. The children are led in worship and presented with a short Bible story. Parents are invited to attend this special time with their children.
  • Specials Classes

Specials subjects, in addition to the core academic curriculum, are considered integral to a comprehensive education at CCA, and are thus included in our Pre-Kindergarten curriculum.

Specials classes offered once a week in Pre-K are:

    • Music & Movement
    • Drama
    • Luke 2:52
    • STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math)

With an introduction to the various Arts, Character Development, Physical Education (offered twice a week for full-time students), and STEM, our Pre-Kindergarten students experience a well-rounded extracurricular curriculum.
  • STEM

We believe children learn best when involved in active play and developmentally appropriate activities, which defines our STEM program.

For example, students plant, water, and harvest various plants during the year. Future scientists are learning to apply the principles of science and mathematics through engaging science experiments, and our young engineers plan, design and cooperatively construct their own unique structures in the classroom.

Student iPads are loaded with various math, science and phonics apps that are used in learning centers or as whole-class enrichment.
Students learn how and why computers work by hands-on exploration.

Math concepts are reinforced throughout the entire curriculum, as well as through our many engineering and science activities. Students get a glimpse of the amazing world God created through exciting science experiments each week.

Using Pre-K-sized robots, our Pre-Kindergarten students are learning to code in exciting, imaginative ways. The robots teach vital skills needed in today’s fast-paced world of technological advancement.

Through experiential learning, students learn order of operations, algorithm design, pattern recognition, and have loads of fun coding their robots, preparing them for our thriving Robotics programs in Elementary, Middle and High school.

Our STEM program also introduces and reinforces a biblical worldview to our young learners, so as to build a strong spiritual foundation in the crucial early years of development.
  • Spanish Immersion

CCA is partnering with add.a.lingua, an organization that develops cutting edge instructional materials, teacher and administrator training, program guidelines, and community engagement specific to dual language immersion education. Participation in the Spanish Immersion Program is open to students in Pre-K4 through First grade. An additional grade level will be added to the program in each consecutive year to allow all participants to advance within the program. Students will receive 100% of their academic instruction in Spanish, but Specials classes such as STEM, art, music, PE, computers, and drama will continue to be taught in English. Starting in 3rd grade, students will be taught one or more of their academic subjects in English to increase exposure to critical terminology and strategies in both languages.

Calvary Christian Academy believes that students deserve the opportunity to benefit from quality dual immersion opportunities that ensure high proficiency in more than one language at no cost to English language performance. The Dual Language Immersion Program will equip our students to use their gifts and talents to serve a global community.
